Hi Flic, Back with us again, nice to see you. Yes I would say out of the ordinary clasps would be a good idea. I mean
those slide in ones. I have had to send to Germany for them but recently my lovely friends here on RCB sent me some.
I agree it is difficult to get some things. I find it a PITA when I want to do something out of one of the USA bead
magazines, only to find I cannot get one particular thing that is needed in UK. Good luck to you with your shop.

<FelicityP@gmail.com> writes [quote:282d9a1860]I'm from the UK and have always found that the US has a lot more
choice than we do on findings and beads, the problem with this is that sometimes places don't post over here or
otherwise it is quite expensive, and when it gets here you incur import charges. Or sometimes when I actually find
something on a website its really expensive, I actually once found a really good site which had lots of selections but
for the basic things were about 3 times the price of other places so I didn't bother. I have decided to do something
about this. My intention is set up a web site to sell beads and findings and end up with a good a selection as over in
the US, and yet still be well priced. I thought I'd start off small with just basic findings and then gradually expand.
I was wondering if anyone had something that they find really difficult to buy in the UK. Basically its all very well me
selling things that I would use but I also have to sell things that I might not use, or I might not have thought of!
Findings are easier obviously, but then again some people may use things that I don't. It'll be interesting when I start
thinking about beads / pendants as other people have to like them as much as me! So far I've got eyepins, headpins,
jump rings, crimps, clasps, earring hooks, spacer bars, what I think are the basic findings. Anyone got anything that
they would like sold that they have problems finding? Or just general ideas of what kind of things I should look at
really! Thank you! Flic [/quote:282d9a1860] -- Shirley Shone shirley@allcrafts.demon.co.uk

It is holiday time for me which means time to browse in bookshops. I have discovered three new bead magazines, all
published in Australia. They are all bright and beautiful. Australian Beader Magazine had an article on a Global
Interactive bead database. It is an on line resource for identifying beads and finding out information about them. The
address is www.bead-database.org. It has been running since Feb 2005 but I had never heard of it. Tried it out
quickly, but couldn't get the slide show running. Thought you all would be interested. Cheers, Jan

Isn't it really weird? I have been messing with the idea of trying some with little flowers on them (since I have to
put flowers on everything) but I can't decide if that's too weird or not. And everyone's doing bones, so it's kind of
getting to be overdone. But it looks like fun. :) I have no idea how this little mini-fad started, but it's kinda cool

bone. They're like anything else, really..some people like floral beads. some people like unusual beads. I can see how
the bones would make good talisman style jewelry, or amulets. Skull beads have been around forever, carved out of wood
or bone or gemstones or cast in silver and pewter. I remember seeing an issue of art jewelry that had a necklace whose
centerpiece was an animal jawbone made from polyclay. I've seen people make jewelry out of human or animal teeth. I have
a book (the big book of beautiful beads) with a necklace in it that's made out of a child's baby teeth. A lot of
people have been saying that they don't see the design possibilities with them. Why not? They're beads. Some of them are
actually beautifully designed, like the ones Kandice posted. What is it about them that makes them impossible to design
with? They have nice colors. Some of them are highly decorative. I could think of several things to do with them. Just
because they're in the shape of bones doesn't mean they're any less valid than lentils or tubes or bicones. Personally,
I like the bones. If I could afford them, I'd buy a handful for an idea I've had for ages. But now they're so highly
priced that there's no way I could buy even one, let alone the eight or nine I would need. -Amber.

wearing someing I have made and also it finances more beads buying (which as you all know is addictive!!!!) This is the
first time I have posted on here. I have loved reading all the tips and experiances everyone have had. I live in the UK
and we don't have any beading groups (that I have found any way) I rely on USA magazines and groups to get help and
advice. I have been reading what everyone has been saying about softflex and am most interested. I use beadalon at the
moment but I will now try the softflex I have also heard of soft touch is there much differance in the two? also if
anyone knows where it is available to UK for a good price please could you let me know. Thanks all
