today. I wrote the women who made the focal point bead on my mother's necklace to say how my necklace came out. They
wrote back and want to publish it in their marketing paperwork. I'm getting $1,500 for my image. I'm also getting
published on their website once they update it (www.beadladies.com) with two of my business links. I'm so excited.

Patti, sorry to have missed you at the show. I have finished my Viking knit necklace and have nearly finished my twined
and beaded basket. Next will be my kumihimo necklace, then my ginkgo brooch. Having done my homework, I have three
Scorpoi pansies and matching leaves to create something wonderful with. I also bought some kits to learn techniques
from. Bought lots of Delicas, a bag full of mixed glass goodies,Italian mesh ribbon and keep dipping into the bag to
find lovely bright beads. The temp here is 3 degrees so I need the colour. Cheers, Jan

Hi Jan (and others here), I've just started reading this ng thanks to a tip from Shirley Shone - we met on
rec.crafts.textiles.yarn (I crochet and have been working other materials into my crochet work). Jan, it sounds like
you have great local kumihimo support - one woman in particular on rcty, Els, is the "kumihimo monster" of
rcty (a la cookie monster of Sesame Street) - we both live on the west coast of Canada, she's sending me an
introductory kumihimo kit. I don't recall ever having seen kumihimo when I was sighted but do enjoy learning new
activities. :) Cheers, David Vancouver, Canada On Fri, 21 Jul 2006, Jan G wrote: [quote:52e60bf311]I took a class

Rio Grande has a necklace in their catalogue made with semi precious beads, I think peridot is one. Anyway, they are
beaded over rubber and expensive. I want to try to get the effect with kumihono Have found a neighbour, we live in the
country, so she is about two miles away who also has the equipment, plus spare bobbins and books. She has just moved
house so has to find where she put them. She loved my necklace and got excited about possibilities. At last, someone
who wants to bead living near me. Cheers, Jan [/quote:52e60bf311]

I'm still working on my first scrapbook. It is about our Animal Kingdom Lodge stay of just 1 day this spring (from a
longer trip to Disney). It is already 15 pages. I loved watching all the animals and I've got the photos to prove it.
:-) I am crocheting a scarf. This is good exercise for my arthritic thumb. But I have to proceed slowly so I don't
over-do. I have designed a beaded necklace and hope to construct it soon. I've done bracelets and earrings before, but
this is my first necklace. I keep telling my boss that work gets in the way of doing fun, creative, crafty stuff. :-)
Fortunately, she's a good boss and knows just what I'm talking about. She gardens. Gina Gina Bull Network Systems

Just a few more should get it. I have done some scrappin as well. I took a box to work with our pet pictures and some
papers/embellishments to work on my pet scrapbook when I have the time. I am taking (tomorrow) to work tomorrow
Christmas pictures from the last 3 years, the canoe trip we took 2 years ago, DS#1's summer military camp he attended
last summer. I am hoping that we will have a few quiet minutes here and there so I can work on these things. I did
some minor reorganizing to make things easier to get to. I'm pretty organized as it is, but needed to have easier
access to somethings I am using more often right now. DS #1 and I redid the masterbathroom Tuesday thru Thursday
afternoon. Tore everything out, except the shower stall it we weren't taking it out. I've posted pictures. I will
scan and post pictures of the layouts I've done when I have the time. Things are so busy around here! I have been
gathering things to make some fabric ATC's. I am anxious to try them, if they turn out I'd like to participate in a
swap. So in summery, currently working on: 1. cards for gifts 2. SB pages from at least 3 years ago 3. Fabric ATC's
4. Not going crazy! (where's the chocolate??)[/quote:d71bfef0e0]

Look.......I don't care what you make your necklaces out of. (Though you really should use better materials. IMO. When
the Chinese lampwork breaks, you are NOT going to get any return customers.) Are you stringing on tigertail, and using
basemetals, as well? When anyone sells handmade beaded necklaces for $8 - $10, the rest of us look like we're rip-off
artists. Do you understand what I mean? The customer looks at our stuff, and not knowing beads well, will say,
"Well, why is your necklace $115, when hers is only $8?" They think we're stealing their money. It's bad for
the jewelry business OVERALL. This isn't WalMart. ``````````````````````````````````````````` calzephyr@gmail.com

due to school. I am also quite excited by some beads I ordered and can't wait for them to arrive. I will be going to
Christmas craft fairs in November and am making some new necklaces and stuff. I was wondering if anyone could help me
with pricing and could offer some hints or critiques. My mom will always say what I do is wonderful, so I need some
unbiased opinions! Here is some of the work that I have done that is online:
http://calzephyr.deviantart.com/gallery/artisan/jewelry/?view=1&order=5&limit=24 I was thinking of charging
somewhere in the range of $8-15 for my necklaces. Does that seem low? Too high? I live in Canada and saved my receipts
to figure out how much each necklace costs me. From what you see, would you buy it? (If anyone is interested, I can part
with some of these before Christmas :-)) Thanks! Christine Christine Bennett ::: http://www.purple-
