while to get to me cause I have moved, but I did get it and that was very cool. So I don't know who it is but thank you.
I haven't been writing much but check in every now and then. I have finished a wall quilt. It is a whole cloth peice
that started with a painting on fabric. It is also the first real free motion thing I have done. It was lot of fun.
There is a picture, and details of it on my Photobucket;

[/quote:28b8f906e3] Thanks Patti, I haven't updated things as much as I should. I'm happy to hear that you like what I
am doing. My blog is the most updated except for this last peice. I've been doing alot of fabric painting and was trying
to do the vendor craft show thing.......not for me, I want to make stuff because it is cool, not to make sure it will
sell. Anyway that whole foray has taken time from posting as I should my new stuff.....and life changes again... Mary

Today two of my friends surprised me at a craft show. I was admiring some hats and reluctantly walked away without
buying one (it's time to pay property taxes - ugh!) and then I ran back and got the vendor's card so I could mail order
a sun hat. I have a gargantuan head, it's hard to find a hat to fit, so I really did plan on buying one next month.
Well, my friends and I sat down to have coffee and they told me to close my eyes. I thought they probably bought me some
fudge (mmmm), but no, they had bought me the hat! I was so surprised, I smacked the shit out of both of them. I really
did! Then I hugged them. This reaction delighted them, because they said I am normally very calm. It goes to show I have
friends who are very understanding, because I may very well have bruised them. The hat is so great for walking and
gardening and looks excellent with any of my many pairs of beaded earrings. It's black, embroidered all over with white
flowers. I could pin a big beaded flower and gauzy scarf to it and it would look smashing. Any other good surprise
stories? Marisa www.galleryvittoria.co.nz

was an issue for a bit but it seems to either go away or I unconsciously adjusted. I think it goes away as my mom has
come over and ironed and not had a problem. She then bought her own. So perhaps it's how we iron ;-) As for stains.
Well, every ironing board cover I have had gets ugly marks from water. I just toss the cover in the washer and it
comes right out...unlike on cotton ones I've had. It does get hot though. I just shift ironing spots when I am doing
a stack of pieces. marcella

156@storefull-3138.bay.webtv.net... [quote:b31e256eea]I have 2 ironing boards, the same one I've used my whole life, it
was my mom's, and a newer one. The older one narrows for ironing shirts and I keep it set up in a spare room for
ironing laundry. The newer one is wide and stays in the quilting room. It has a metal stand on the end for holding the
iron, but I hate it. It's meant to hold the iron at an angle, but my iron just puffs steam when held at that angle. My
DH made me a metal shelf to cover the hole and that works great. I really like the wider board, but find it hard to use
for shirts. My pet peeve is the ironing pads and covers that are currently being sold. I bought new ones for both
boards last year and they both developed tears within a couple of months. The original one on my mom's board lasted
over 50 years. Now both of my covers are covered with fused patches in cute critter material. My friend bought a
"new and improved" cover at a quilt show last year and I got to use it last weekend at a class, it was
horrible. It's supposed to improve ironing but it was so slippery that I absolutely couldn't use it, I was trying to
iron a fold in my binding material, but it just wouldn't let me iron without slipping. I asked my friend how she like
it and she said she hates it. A friend of DH's gave me a cute antique ironing board a couple of weeks ago. It's all
wood and it folds from a step-stool chair to an ironing board. It doesn't have a cover and it's way to short for me to
use, but it makes a cute conversation piece. Someday I'll make a little board cover for it. Denise
