:D Wandering around our first night trying to get dinner and back to a train station, I found a store, don't remember
the name either. Looking at the costs for stamp pads was enough to choke on. Even if it weren't double for the exchange
rate, the prices were high. Was nice to see a craft store on economy (in Germany, I've only really ventured to one quilt
store and it's always closed! LOL I shop on post at their version of craft store and get most of my fix there) Now to
find out if I get any better choices on our move to Minot :D Yeah... if I didn't mention that, we found out Thrusday
night we're headed to North Dakota next July. Talked to friends from there tongiht and now I"m getting excited to
move again! :D Susan

[quote:c22f0299ed]My hubby won't be available tomorrow to tend to The HairyButt Gang's every want and desire while I'm
in Springfield looking at quilts with Jan. I had a choice of taking them to my dog trainer and friend Susan for doggie
day care, but that's $10 per day for each dog- a bit pricey. Or I could leave them alone in the house for 7-8 hrs. and
hope for the best. Or I could take Hoover The Rambuncious Puppy with me for company and let him wait in my pick-up
truck. That wouldn't be very nice to do to a sweet lil fella. So..... I bought 2 ten foot sticks of 1.25 in. PVC
pipe, four 90 degree angles and 2 Ts and built a doggie door to fit into the opening of my 6 ft. sliding glass door into
the backyard! I just insert it into the door frame and close the door up to the edge of the doggie door's frame. I
measured Simon, the biggest of the gang and made it just above his shoulder height and just a few inches wider than his
chest. All the dogs have used the door and approve. I have the top portion covered with 4 thicknesses of heavy duty
clear plastic drop cloth right now, but come Saturday will buy a hunk of clear acrylic sheet to cover the top portion.
Once they are comfy with using it, I will try some type of flexible door over the opening for winter. With four really
big dogs in the fenced backyard and our very peaceful neighborhood, I have no fears of unwanted "guests". Off
to the quilt show in the morning with no worries about my precious canine children! Leslie & The Furbabies in MO.

Posted by King's Crown on Thu Aug 10, 2006 5:37 AM Post subject: Re: Help! Need Ideas for Winter Ball Invitations
The idea I wanted to pass on sounds just like what M-C suggested. A friend of mine made invitations to a bridal shower
that I thought turned out very elegant. She used half of an 8 1/2 X 11 sheet of paper, then half of a ....err clear
sheet... transparency with the info for the party printed on it. Then 2 holes were punch at the top in the center and
space about 2 to 3 inches a part. Ribbon was threaded through the holes and a pretty bow tied so it was above the
words on the invitation. The color combinations is what will make it elegant. If the girls could find some patterned
paper or wanted to be more crafty they could even dress the under sheet with some heat embossing with some
interesting rubber stamp set you have. My friend used burgundy ribbon and the paper underneath was white with tiny
burgundy flowers with tiny green leaves. The printing on the transparency was done in black and showed up very
nicely. Lynne "Sandy" <slmcbeth@verizon.net> wrote in message news:dIxCg.14516$rd1.13862@trnddc01...
[quote:078953defc]My girl Scout Troop is responsible for coming up with the party invitations for the Winter Ball in
December. DD and I have been searching the net for ideas with out much luck. Background Info for Ball - girls ages 6 to
15 (so DD didn't want to go with a Cinderella theme); girls will arrive in party dresses to formals; they will go to
workshops to get their hair done, nails painted, learn table manners, be taught a basic ballroom dance; make calling
cards; then their fathers or other male figure will arrive for a catered sit-down finger type foods dinner , followed by
a DJ for the dance. There are about 5 girls making the invitations and they have to make around 75-80. So we're looking
for something elegant but fairly simple. DD asked me to ask the newsgroup for ideas that she can take back to her troop.
We only have three weeks to get them done as the Service Unit decided to pass out the initial invitations at
registration night. Any help appreciated. Sandy [/quote:078953defc]

Harbor Freight is a volume deep discounter, and the clerks are not known for their marketing savvy. I have visited many

out-of-the box display units. Because of the clientele at most HF stores, display units live a very hard life, and

fixtures, vises, etc. to be able to do useful work. I don't know which lathe you have, but if you are not anticipating
a large volume of milling work, you should at least consider purchasing a lathe milling attachment. Basically, this
vertical slide/vise that converts your lathe into a clunky horizontal mill, which may be more than adequate for your
needs/parts. For a how-to book and discussion of lathe milling see #5 in the workshop practice series, "Milling
Operations in the Lathe" by Tubal Cain. This is a Brit book, but available in the US at several locations
including: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0852428405/103-3793123-6867065?v=glance&n=283155
http://www.blueridgemachinery.com/Workshop_Practice_Books.htm For limited use you can buy an inexpensive right angle
iron for 15-20$ from Enco and mount your lathe compound to provide vertical movement. You will also need to rig a vise.
This appears to have been a common dodge in the early days of machining when iron was expensive and people worked cheap.
Lathe milling adapters are still made in the USA by Palgren one source

a large volume of milling work, you should at least consider purchasing a lathe milling attachment.
Lathe milling adapters are still made in the USA by Palgren one source

the head stock to hold an endmill, face mill, fly cutter, etc. will result in *FAR MORE* excitement than you want. If
you are going to do milling invest in a Morse taper endmill holder *WITH DRAW BAR* to fit your headstock. for example:

Hi crafters! I am looking for some ideas on getting some useful features on my new craft site to get people there and
keep people. I have had recent suggestions of the following which all have been introduced: Card Kits: pre compiled
kits containing all materials needed to make a range of cards. Wishlist: to allow people to email goodies they want to
friends and family for Birthday/Christmas etc. Album: for craftaers to upload images of their craft masterpieces.
(Linked to our forum) Techniques section: for demonstrations of craft techniques with tips and tricks. (Linked to our
album) Can any of you remember looking for some crafty thing online and not being able to find it ? Maybe we can add
it to our site ? (http://www.craftables.co.uk) Thanks for any feedback, Steven

Kate!! As WE know you are so talented!! It is beautiful!! Is both the glass and bottle hollowed out? As you have
learned, they are not too had to make, just takes a little creativity and time and once you make one they are fun and
rather addicting!! Some of my shopping yesterday at Michael's they had some HUGE packages of that crafty foam in sheets
in the clearance area. Of course I had to get some and the next time I make some/one I will try it. It has to be easier
than cork! ((HUGS!)) OKC Dave Check out my pix and crafts! http://community.webshots.com/user/dspiketoo

As a survivor of 6 years, I completely feel for you. Hope you didn't have any problems with the chemo - I didn't have
1 second of anything, thank goodness. I had my mastectomy and reconstruction at the same time, after my round of
chemo. During my "sick" time, I lost all interest in doing anything crafty. I am not really a reader, but
during that time, I read about 30 books. It took about 20 months after surgery for me to get any interest back for my
quilting and other crafts, but then it was full steam ahead. My stamina still isn't great - I tire easily, and my arm
is very weak from the lymp node removal. I did have liver problems from the tamoxifin, but my oncologist said that it
wasn't causing the problem and wouldn't let me switch. After about 18 months, I did switch to arimidex, and amazingly,
my liver counts went back to normal!!! I have finished my 5 years of medication a few months ago. Good luck to both
Janet and Pam. Take care, Roz in Montreal

Hi there! Since I am a crafter, I prefer to send items to people that I create, rather then someone else so I would
prefer the kits, so I can create my own piece. However, that's strictly my opinion......there are many people out there
who aren't crafty or don't have the time or don't want to take the time to create handmade items so they may snap up
your pre-made creations. Whether or not you make it, it's always nice to receive something handmade rather than mass
produced. (Again, just my opinion.) I think if you try a little of everything - make a card or two and try to sell,
also create a kit like you suggested and put that up as well - see what sells and what doesn't. See what you enjoy
creating and what is too time consuming for you...Maybe put together a layout that you yourself would use just in case
it doesn't sell. EBay is a somewhat inexpensive way to get your feet wet.....you'll never know until you try! Good
luck!!! Brandi "Karen AKA Kajikit" <kajikit@jagcon.com> wrote in message

it's a very crowded market. I do NOT want to spend my time making whole albums or giftbooks - that's a lot more work
than I want to do and I'd hate to spend weeks working on something and have it not sell. I want to do much smaller
(quicker) projects that will bring in a few bucks and basically pay for my materials so I can keep on playing. So, if
you were going to buy scrapbooking/cardmaking items on Ebay, what would you be most likely to want: - Individual premade
greeting cards and envelopes, ready to send - Set of greeting cards and envys - blank cards and co-ordinating envelopes,
ready to decorate - hand-cut window-cards and envelopes, ready for you to decorate - card-making kits with an example
and all the embellishments to make the rest of them yourself (eg. pre-cut Christmas tree etc) - embellishment kits (co-
ordinating bits and pieces to play with) - punchies - decorated tags - semi-finished page elements (eg. page topper with
space to add your own title) - blank tags, mini-envelopes etc. - complete page element (eg.page topper with title)

other is that they are breaking the law. :) -- Kathy A. (Woodland, CA) Queen of Fabric Tramps

What item is so expensive that even though you'd love to have it, you just don't dare tell anyone that you want it? I
would love to have a room just for scrapbooking that has perfect furniture for storing all my paper and bits and pieces.
At the moment my desk is the place for scrapbooking and study books. The two distract each other very much!! What
item is really cheap to buy, but you still always put off buying it? I've always wanted to use fake flowers in a
layout, but never have bought any! Of the handmade things you've seen on the internet, (a link to a picture of it would
be wonderful to share with us) which one would you like to receive as a gift? I don't use the internet much when
looking for handmade crafty things.. What item or items do you use a lot of and are always running out of? Double
sided sticky tape, lettering stickers, and gold ribbon When you are in a scrapbook store, which section of the store
are you most likely to spend time in? Paper (Dave doesn't have to answer this question). embellishments, newest
Arrivals, cardstock, baby, travel, wedding etc. Paper and ribbon, trying to imagine how to match the two is always fun
:) What else would you like to tell us about the kind of scrapbook items make your little heart pitter patter?
Anything that is really cute or pink. Laura

<My rules for any of my crafts are all the same: 1) I won't do one for you if I don't like you.> I have to say I
implemented this one 2 years ago. There were several "friends of a friend" riding my crafty shirt tail.
When these "friends of a friend" couldn't muster up a friendly hello at the grocery store I thought why the
heck do I A. let them come to my parties and B. let them have my crafty works. So, I cut them off. Hardest thing to
do for a people pleaser. It was SO liberating though. I got stronger and stronger as the year went on saying no.
Reminding myself of the saying "Mean people suck" to give me strength. It actually freed me up to crafty
things for people I really care about and an occasional crafty thing for someone just because. Like my neighbor who is
having a baby any day now. I'm doing a paper bag album for her. In fact I better get cracking. I have all the paper
cut out just need to do some sewing and adhering. Lynne

her SB supplies and drove to town for the monthly crop, but it was last weekend. So we used the work room at the county
museum and scrapped all evening - no kids, no tv in the backgraound, no distractions, etc. It was great. She actually
took pictures last week with a specific LO in mind. She had bought some real cute embellishments and stickers with a
watermelon theme and then fed her kids watermelon for the shots. Not posed perfect ones, but photos to go with the
supplies she had. I told her "I think I've created a SB monster." She's only been scrappin for about a year.
I introduced her to the Lettering Delights fonts program last night and she was in heaven. I think some of the LO's you
are talking about are nice to look at in the magazines, but I also ofter wonder 'Why did they take a photo like that?' -
no reason other than to make a LO like that. Sandy "Judy SA" <askme@telkomsa.net> wrote in message
news:ec9dor$hlk$1@ctb-nnrp2.saix.net... I've been wondering about this for a while. I don't see it as much on this

with a certain LO in mind. For example, the other day I saw a LO with the title "In my fathers shoes" and the
photo was taken of the feet of a little boy with his dad's oversized shoes on. It was a beautiful LO, and a great idea
- but I could not help thinking that you would never take that picture in every day life. It just seemed a bit
unnatural. I have not really made my mind up about this. I don't have a problem with editing pictures, like making it
b&w, enlarging, cropping etc and then reprinting, so why does pictures like I mentioned above appear a bit strange
to me? Would love to hear the groups thoughts on this. Judy, SA -- Judy, South Africa Layouts at

I'm still working on my first scrapbook. It is about our Animal Kingdom Lodge stay of just 1 day this spring (from a
longer trip to Disney). It is already 15 pages. I loved watching all the animals and I've got the photos to prove it.
:-) I am crocheting a scarf. This is good exercise for my arthritic thumb. But I have to proceed slowly so I don't
over-do. I have designed a beaded necklace and hope to construct it soon. I've done bracelets and earrings before, but
this is my first necklace. I keep telling my boss that work gets in the way of doing fun, creative, crafty stuff. :-)
Fortunately, she's a good boss and knows just what I'm talking about. She gardens. Gina Gina Bull Network Systems

whatever supplies they recommend? I love looking at all the gorgeous lampwork that many of you do. I may have to be
satisfied with eye candy, as I can't afford to purchase more than the most inexpensive beads and the idea of being able

Lobby kit! I've heard toooo many problems with the Fireworks torch just breaking, and they don't get as hot as a Hot
Head. Also, the way they keep the price down is by leaving out a bunch of stuff you NEED, like specialized eye
protection. You end up having to buy that stuff elsewhere anyway. If you're on a limited budget, my suggestion is to
go online to Frantz Art Glass or Arrow Springs and get their Hot Head beginner kit. Here's the one from Frantz:
http://snipurl.com/xuoo Arrow Springs: http://arrowsprings.com/html/kits.html Practice with your beginner kit for a
few months, until you can consistently make a round bead and have a pretty good feel for the flow of the glass. THEN,
if you're in love with it, spend your money on an early intermediate course. You will get so much more out of it. When
you're about at a point where you think your beads are usable/salable, buy a kiln, and then use money from your early
bead sales to upgrade your torch setup.
