View entire thread: Santa Letter
Posted by a-scrapbooking-diva on Sun Oct 29, 2006 10:27 PM    Post subject: Re: Santa Letter

HI. I write a letter on decorative christmas paper (archivally safe of course) and then just add a few lines of what my
nieces did that year. My nieces in NC love Santa Clause so I make sure I add that the magic globe was working this year
showing them dancing and cleaning their room. etc. I also make sure that their individual favorite reindeer is
mentioned like Clarice has been busy making cookies for her family or Dasher has been busy at the school making sure
that the reindeer are ready for action. It's the little things that make the letter personal. My youngest niece is
going to be 20 months at Christmas so I'm going to make it extra special for her. My sister insists that the letter
from last year is in the baby book. HTH Kate http://community.webshots.com/user/kateandlarry

I think Scout Lady is on the rite track, if you wait long enough someone always figured out how to "crack the
code" they have done it with many things like video games, copyrights on DVD's. It will happen. I went to a demo
at Michaels when the Cricut first came out, I really like the simplicity of it but buying several cartridges at $70 a
crack is not my idea of fun. So I am hoping th price drops a little more. C "Scout Lady"

Jessica....like Cathy says the Flylady emails and stuff can drive you nuts. I joined their list at one point and since
it seems to be based around US timezones I woke to dozens of tasks to do LOL....Felt like I was playing catch up all
day after that! I tried joining the UK regional groups and they just didn't work either...so I go to the site from time
to time and follow the rules when I feel the need. The other site that is based on similar principals is a yahoo group
called ScrappersChallenge http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ScrappersChallenge/ It is scrapbook focussed and I find it
useful to help make my scraproom & supplies easier to use. It works in conjunction with this site
http://organizedscrapbooks.com/ which I have sent through to RCS before. There is also links at the bottom of the home
page to organised homes, organised christmas and sew organised. You might find these help you achieve your
goals....good luck with getting organised :o) -- Take care, Marilyn (Scotland UK) See my LO's and other stuff here:

I'll get it done and clean and organize, and never do....so - I figured, can't hurt to try the FLYlady's system....
Anyway - I thought I'd share the link, in case anyone would like to try "FLYIng" with me!

I'm in love with my BossKut as are my new scrappy friends who have tried it. We've used, QK, BossKuts and Sizzlets and
all worked really well. All we had to do is change the cutting pad for the sizzlets. I've found that I get really
frustrated when I have to start sandwiching a die and cardstock between two pieces of plastic and then manage to get it

I'm off to Stamp Camp in a few. Its for 3 hours and were are going to make 10 cards. Some of the cards we are going to
make are a genie bag (never heard of it), tri folding, dry emobossing and not sure what else. I'm excited but nervous.
I've never been to Stamp Camp or any kind of event like this before. I'm not really an experienced stamper. I play
around a lot but nothing great. I'll post later what you make and yesterday I started my christmas cards, really like
the way they are turning out. I'll load them up to webshots later also. Chrissy

it's too expensive. A new rug that is. While shopping for DD1s new bedroom suite I found what I thought was a quilt
being used as a rug which would have tied her new stuff in with her old stuff perfectly. At a cost of $300 it was a
bit too pricey (even if he did say it was made of leather - I would have said cheap suede). It was white background
with appliqued blue and chocolate circles. Fairly simple design, just need to find the time to dig through stash to
find appropriate colours and then find time to make it. I have 3 weeks til furniture arrives.....and about 7 weeks
until christmas!! And yes I'm still working on the nightmare quilt and can see the end. Who knows - it could be done
by Christmas too!!! But I ain't tellin y'all which year - ROFLOL! -- Sharon from Melbourne Australia (Queen of Down

general is best). cut in 1/2 stick of butter like you would for pie crust. Add 2 egg yolks and stir to make a dough, add
another yolk or two if needed. Chill for at least an hour (overnight is fine). Roll the dough thin and cut into small
(1-2 inch) circles, and bake on an ungreased sheet at 350F until lightly browned. Allow to cool. Cover 1/2 of the
circles with raspberry or apricot jam or pastry filling, and top with the bare circles making little sandwiches. Dip the
tops of the sandwiches in molten chocolate and press a blanched whole almond onto the still soft chocolate. These ones
I have mentioned here, plus pfeffernusse and biscotti de regina are probably my family's first favorite cookies for

Wow Denise, I would never ever try 6 to 7 different cards, I know me I would have a hard time picking which one for
which person. I firgure, it is easier for me to do an assembly line stamping and I usually get my dh to help assemble
them, I mean we send to his family too right. :o) I usually try and kis (keep it simple) it so that I don't get bored
before I finish. I am in the process right now of swapping out 30 different card fronts and me and my big mouth stated
that if you joined the swap I would make you a personal thank you card. Well I am in the process of tryinf to punch out
20 thank you cards right now. Sometimes I wonder about myself. Oh well. I wish you the best with your hands. I know
that I would be bummed if I couldn't stamp when I wanted to. Not that I stamp a lot, but just the idea of it. My dh
has had those on his left hand and now they are on his right and he is after right handed so he is trying to put it off.
I will say a prayer for you to have a good doctor's appointment. Now off to finish my thank yous and onto designing my
christmas cards. Argghhhhh not enough time sometimes. :o) Inky Huggz, Missy Olson Angel #1754 North Branch, MN

I actually use my stove top - I put the burner on medium, and hold the paper 6-8 inches above the heat, keeping it in
motion. It can get a little toasty on the fingers, so I use tongs or an ov-glove. Works fine for me, though. Have

myself about it, I want it to be perfect and no fawls. We lost our son to SIDS and just want this to be the perfect
tribute album to him and our short time with him. I have tons of pictures (thankfully). I find scrapbooking helps me.
I tried to do a page this week but it was hard (today would have been his 2nd birthday) so I didn't scrap this week.
Albums I need to work on are our disney album. Would like to have that album done before we return in 2008. And I want
to make my sister an album from our trip to Massachuets this summer for christmas, I need to get busy on that.

could come up with in Target's scrapbooking section to get me started on my christmas cards - the short answer was
nothing! Their scrapbook section was decimated, and it looks to me like they're getting rid of it entirely! They used to
sell nice cheap coloured papers in the printer aisle too, and they don't have them any more either... I really needed a
xyron refill and they had an empty rack, and they didn't have any other kind of usable adhesive either. I was so
disappointed! Walmart doesn't have very much in the scrapbooking line any more either, and Office Works used to sell
bulk paper for scrapbooking but they got rid of it a year ago. So it looks to me like the 'cheap scrapbooking' phase has
come and gone, and the only place I have left to get stuff is Joanns or our LSS, which is anything BUT cheap. Does your
Target still sell scrapbooking supplies? Or are they phasing them out? Where do you get cheap basic supplies in a

them... and they'll all be different (I hate repeating designs on handmade cards - if I wanted them to be all the same I

but that was way too many and I burnt out making them all... I'm not going to bother to make cards for family/friends in
Australia because I didn't get a single one from any of them since I moved two years ago. (I'm not trying to be all
bitter and twisted here, but I'm tired of thinking of people who don't think of me - it's too expensive and too much
work for people who aren't going to appreciate it.) I'm just going to do the organised card swaps on my card-making
groups because I know they appreciate them. I haven't started making them yet, but I've pulled all the christmas
supplies from my collection in preperation, and today I've been cutting tags from christmas-coloured cardstock with my

I will be making my own christmas cards this year. I have started on my cards have 2 or 3 made, but its a start.
Haven't made my card list yet. I plain to send christmas cards to my online friends something I haven't done in the
past. I'll probably end up with about 30 cards I would say. I don't make cards for my co workers, I buy a box of cards
after christmas sale so I have plenty. Next Saturday I'm attending a SU Holiday Stamp Camp so I hope to get more ideas.
My DH likes to receive a card that is different from everyone elses. Everyone else don't care if they are the same. I
used to make everyone a completely different card but as the years go by I run out of ideas (because I already used that
stamp set or style already). I'll stick to 3 designs at the most. Chrissy

Do you mean vest as in underwear, Sharon; or vest as in waistcoat? Not that I'll be much help, as I won't see your
answer until the morning, now. However, in general, if you want a pattern, it is often possible to make one up from
existing clothing. A blouse will often be convertible to a waistcoat, if that's the one you want. .. In message

pack of fat quarters and headed home. Can't make it to the shop that day but decided I could certainly manage to make a
few blocks to be dropped off. Well....the instructions for the Sister's Choice block seem to be off a bit. I went to
my trusty local mentor and she agreed with me that the instructions seemed a bit lacking. There's no finished block
size, so I can't even work backwards on how to make adjustments. The shop closes at 5PM most days. Since I work till
5PM that's not overly helpful. Didn't know if anyone had run into the same problem and had managed to either figure out
what the descrepancies were or had been back to the shop for better instructions. By way of introduction, I am a self-
taught new quilter - about 5-6 years now. My first quilt was a double irish chain lap quilt for my grandmother. Next
project was a hand pieced tumbling block pattern for the then new niece to be. Since then there have been two queen
sized quilts. Generally I machine piece and hand quilt. Still working on the quilting on #2. Currently planning #3
but have to finish a baby blanket and needlepoint christmas stocking for the new niece/nephew due any day. I have a DH
and two QI's of the canine (chocolate lab) variety. Oh, and dark chocolate is the best! Thank you all in advance.
Sorry for the length of the post but would be ever so grateful for any help that may be out there. Not like I'm not
waiting until the last minute or anything.... P.S. Sorry if the posting is a bit off. Using Google groups and have
not done this before. [/quote:5f65910e88]

I don't have any first hand knowledge of the block in question, but I'd be willing to try to help, if you could email
me the instructions you have. Maybe I could figure out what's wonky about it. Worth a try, anyway. Welcome to the

the kitchen range, or a window A/C (this one is more questionable), a lot of light, furnace and water heater, computers,
TVs, tools etc. So. Can you explain why you called my generator "undersized". Thanks. i If one of the

HP motor in my house is the sump pump motor, 1/2 HP, and it is one of the harder starting ones if there is water in the
sump pump's pipe. If the rest of the loads use up, say, 4 kw, and the pump requires 4 times its rated power to start
up, that adds up to 4000+350*4 = 5,400 watts, not a big deal. If we deal with numbers, it becomes relatively apparent
that 7 kW is plenty for a house that is not trying to produce a christmas light extravaganza and uses NG for heating.
As I said, I already did run the house on this generator. i

I agree with Karen. Lots of the albums being made today as gifts don't have sheet protectors. ( pocket books, chipboard
books, baper bag albums, albums in a tin and so forth come to mind). I would however give it in or with a cello bag
that it can be stored in when not being either displayed or looked at. You might also consider sealing your pages with
something like modgepodge or some similar material. Perhaps someone here can come up with a better sealer. -- M-C -

Snapfish.com. I saw on the news a few months back where the consumer reporter did tests of online print ordering at good
prices and snapfish.com was # 1 or 2. I have a snapfish account and for signing up you get so many FREE prints.. and I
think that included shipping. The prints were terriffic, color great. I HIGHLY reccommending them. I also use wal-
mart.com to order some if I need them right away, then you can order online and then go to the local Wally World an hour
later and pick them up. They have really good 1 hr processing too. With snapfish you get them in about a week or so. So,
if you can wait a little while for the pics to come in the mail it would be worth the wait. I'm not one to like to wait
for my pics though. Ang. "Klara" <klarajw@tesco.net> wrote in message

I have been experimenting with my slides all week...They are awesome for inclosing pics and sealing with stickers,
utee(ultra thick embossing powers) and copper tape. I have been using polymer clay and waterslide transfers. The
results are amazing! Will be posting pics to my gallery soon... Gin http://www.gins-creations.com "Jessica"
