Posted by Jack Campin - bogus addre on Sun Oct 29, 2006 1:28 PM    Post subject: Re: Pet Odor Stain/Odor Removal HELP!

[quote:c188a7eb55]Good, sweet little Samson..... I just discovered this past week that he had been sneaking into the
guest room and using it as his private bathroom. [...] My guess is the pad underneath is laden with urine (and dried!)
Other than ripping up the carpet -- is there anything I can pour on the carpet to help neutralize the odor? White
vinegar? I'm willing to saturate the carpet -- leave it for a while -- then pull the Bissell back out and suck it up.
But I think I need to get to the padding. I bought a commercial product specially to neutralize pet urine. It was
expensive, but it worked, Then Oxyclean came out & the instructions are almost the same [/quote:c188a7eb55] Tried
both (we have six cats so a lot of opportinuity for things like this to happen). They only work on small areas or areas
where there isn't much to impregnate. If it's several square feet of soaked carpet underlay, it needs to be ripped up
down to the floorboards and scrubbed with bleach. Could be worse. One of the outlying university campuses round
Edinburgh had a cottage on the grounds when they acquired it. It had been owned by a crazy old lady who had several
dogs and never let them out. The floor was so deeply impregnated with years of dogshit that they gave up on trying to
clean it up and demolished the house. ============== j-c ====== @ ====== purr . demon . co . uk ==============

Polly- You are one CLEVER lady! Thank you! Leslie & The Furbabies in MO.- who stick to wayward threads very
well... I only have to brush the threads from their coats! LOL polly esther wrote: [quote:74293bcae1]Yeeeha. Finally
I have grandly solved two needs. I like to have a pin cushion on the top of the arm of my SM to hold just a few pins,
one or two needles and the poker. Here's what works and beautifully: You can take the double-faced sticky strip that 3M
makes for holding their hooks, apply one side to the SM and apply a length of velcro to the other sticky side of the
strip. Don't use the hook. Attach the other side of the velcro strip to a pin cushion. Mine is a very simple little
pillow made from blanket fleece. The pin cushion will stay put and can easily be removed if the SM wants to climb in its
travel case for a trip. The 3M sticky strip won't cause magnetic harm to your SM and is possible to remove. It is even
possible to remove without damaging your fingers and nose if you follow the directions. (Ask Charlotte about that one.)
Now for grabbing snipped threads - I also put a 3M strip on the left end of the SM. I attached a rough piece of velcro
to the remaining sticky side of that one. I can simply pat a piece of scrap batting on it. Cut threads like to cling
to batting. The threads wipe off easily enough when you have a fair-sized rat's nest or you can just replace the
batting with a new scrap. No afiliation. Always hopeful. Thank you all very much for your contributions to these
solutions. How sweet it is. Polly[/quote:74293bcae1]

Howdy! For me the longest thread is the one I find when I'm near the end of one side of the quilt, attaching a border,
just about finished, almost there, only another inch or so to sew--- when I discover that the top or bobbin thread has
run out about 6 feet ago! Now *that's* a long thread. <VBG> Ragmop/Sandy --today it was only about 5" long

stock them so . . . . . . Thanks for the offer - I'll get back to you if I need help. -- -- Cheryl & the Cats

All right all y'all QI lovers out there. My sister in Tucson has been taking care of a 2.5 yo Jack Russell terrier for
the past three months. Her owner is battling cancer and was unable to continue caring for her properly, so my sis
stepped in and said she would. The owner will not be able to take this mostly sweet young lady back. If you know of
any one looking for a Jack Russell - pure bred, no papers - and understands the efforts that is required in owning a
Jack Russell, drop me an email for more information. Thank you, Jenn in CA - I'd take her, but DH said no more dogs (we
have two) and this young lady loves to chase cats (I have four)

cannot say enough good things about my experiences working with breed rescue, and in particular the Jack Russell
Terrier folks. http://www.russellrescue.com/index.php4 Please pass that link along to your sister. Urge her to get in
touch with the local group. They'll take the dog off her hands and put her in a foster home with folks who know and
love Jack Russell Terriers, as well as do everything in their power to find a good forever home with someone who knows
and loves the breed. JRTs can be a very difficult dog to care for as they are happy hyper dogs. I dearly loved the one
we cared for- however, he did not get on with our cats or our dog. He does have a very happy home now though. -georg

breed. I"m not sure we would have chosen a Jack Russell if we knew what a live wire they are, and that would have
been sad. He is so much fun. We got a trainer to help us, and he does most of the good dog things, sit, stay, is
perfectly house trained, we can leave him now with access to the whole house while we leave,. no messes or chewed up
things , he just sleeps. He takes a short walk every day, and has two or three tug of war or find the toy times and a
little fetching. He knows lots of wonderful tricks, like getting my husbands hat, and the leash for the walk, gets
treats for bringing dirty sox, or other things on the floor that might have been fun to chew up. and he makes us laugh
everyday. My son says that is certainly a valuable and rare ability. He loves all people, especially children, and we
haven't found any way to squelch or control his jumping, kissing, out of control welcoming any one who comes to our
place. He loves the mailman, has jumped into the truck to go with him, He is a wonderful hand full! Kay

Happy Father's Day - to ALL DAD'S around the world! I am proud to be a "dad". I became a "dad" at
the age of 27. When my son was 18 months old, I became a single parent and raised my son on my own. Being a single
parent, I had to make some adjustments. I wanted to spend as much time with my son as I could, and I realized in order
to do this, I would have to have a job where I could "take time off" when I needed to. The only option was to
become self-employed. Being self-employed had its challenges. Sometimes I barely made enough money to pay the bills and
put food on the table. However, it did enable me to "Buy My Time" - which allowed me the time to spend with my
son. I must admit, I could have done a lot better financially, but money was not my motive. "Buying My Time"
to spend with my son was my incentive. (BTW - My son's name is Paul. He works for En101. One of his weekly
responsibilities is creating En101 Kids.) Then, 6 years ago, I met my lovely wife. She gave me a 3-year-old daughter
"Valentina". Valentina is a beautiful "young lady". It warms my heart every time she calls me
"daddy". She is now (almost) 10 and growing like a weed. (She too will someday join En101 and you will hear
her cheerful voice.) So, if you are a father - or a stepfather... Be Proud. Before you know it, your children will be
grown - and moved out on their own. They will carry with them the memories that you gave them. The greatest gift you
can give them is "Your Time". So, use En101 to "Buy Your Time". By the way... thank you for all
the well wishes on my birthday (#51)! I am now on my 2nd 1/2 century. I don't have time to waste, so I vow to work
harder than ever before :-) RichardMcCullough ______________________________________________________________________

I've been away at a conference all week and just got back this evening, -- I'm sorry I wasn't able to reply to your
urgent message :) Contrary to some of the posts, there actually are two GREAT Signer Touch & Sew models; the 600
and 603. These are the last of the all-metal Singers. (Yes they have the Touch and Sew bobbin mechanism, but after
having 6 Touch & Sew machines the biggest problem with these mechanisms I've seen is they get gunked up and not
cleaned out well, hence terrible lower bobbin tension...). The early Touch & Sew machines were gear driven (no
belts), but later models had plastic gears (and even later models had belts) so if you can find one of these earlier
ones, go for it. But NOT FOR $90 :) I paid $30 for my 603e and she came with EVERYTHING including a great table, two
boxes of attachments, a even feed dog, manuals, etc. They make a great chain stitch.... Guess I'd have to also ask,
does it sew? If not, that means it needs a good cleaning and lubbing....so see what the model number is, and if it
sews, is a 600 or 603 ,offer 1/2 price and see if she'll go for it. -Irene On 31 Jul 2006 13:57:46 -0700,

what he wanted for the SM. We talked for a while. I was sorting through all the fabric that was for sale also. One

manual, has foot pedal and cords with it, just one foot. The one foot tells me it zig-zags. It is emaculate. Price is
$90.00. I said that was high. The lady had asked her father what he wanted for the SM. We talked for a while. I was
sorting through all the fabric that was for sale also. One dollar a yard. She sold the cottons I picked out that
totaled 7 1/2 yards for 4 dollars. The lady told me to come back because the sale was going on for 3 days. I have a
feeling I might be able to get this machine, if it isn't scooped up first, but at a lower price. So what do you think I
should offer for it. Can't find anything like it on e-bay except for a Little Touch and Sew, the child's model.

Touch and sew machines are often called touch and swear. They aren't Singers best made machine. I might give $20 for
one but $90 should come in a cabinet with every accessory made. There are just too many of them around. There were
several touch and sew models. There is one that you can wind the bobbin while still in the machine. I have a friend
that has that particular model because she has trouble with her hands. Her husband does machine repairs though. I'd pass
but that is just my thought. Irene probably knows a lot more than me about these machines. TAria Kate T. wrote:

Hi Kate, I found a "Golden Touch and Sew" listed here http://tinyurl.com/jcror For what it is worth, I used
to own one of these and I wouldn't pay that much for it. The model you are looking at could be very different, so
ignore me :-) I was just not happy with the Singer. It is still around someplace at my sister's house. If this
doesn't work out for you let me know. Maybe we can arrange something. Rita L. Kate T. wrote:

My father always said to watch out for little old ladies in hats. He said that every time he took a little old lady to
lunch, the little old lady always wore a hat and gloves, and he would always offer her a drink when they sat down and
she removed her gloves. The little old lady would purse her lips, pause as in deep thought, and then say, "Why,
yes, that would be a lovely treat. But only one, of course." Then she would order a double of a clear drink that
was pure booze -- double martini, etc. Sherry Starr wrote: [quote:e257950e3a]A guy shopping in a supermarket noticed a

was young - and that's what I wore at the barn when a little kiddie (breeches were for special days). My UK jeans story
- when I was working/living in Southend (working nearby) - I generally wore casual clothes to work, and would have a
jumpsuit (boiler-suit) over my clothes while in the field or getting dirty. But, at lunch, while the techs all stayed
around our area, I generally would meet the scientist/engineers (office types) at the commissary for a quick feed (and
cider). I think I was the only one in there ever in jeans (not horrid ones, but). Anyhow, later one day the senior
scientist that was my adopted dad (so to speak) wanted me to just meet up with the family/friends and we'd all go to a
restaurant for dinner (instead of the usual tea and supper later). But, I was in jeans - nice jeans - not work type,
faded or torn - but some kind of more designer-ish. Well, I asked could I just come as is in my jeans (this was over
the phone from my more remote site and if I'd have to go all the way across the towns to my hotel it would be a while).
He quite sternly said "ellice - you cannot wear jeans" - implying that I was in my field gear. My response
"But they're not Levi's..." trying to explain that they were like nice trousers, but denim as opposed to my
rough, faded, etc Levi's. Well, he clearly misheard me, and for the ensuing 15 years made fun of me at every chance, no
matter what level the meeting, conference, or just at some joint work - thinking I'd said "But they're Levi's"
- as Americans are supposedly so proud of Levi Strauss. Thing was - I don't/didn't really wear much Levi's - but all
the British crew were constantly having me bring them brand name Levi's back from the states. And no amount of my
explaining as to what I'd said would ever convince him! In the end - I do believe I sped on home (to the hotel I was
living in) and then back to meet our little group for a lovely dinner out. ellice

I'm not sure why you're attacking me, but please know that I never said a breeder is the only way to go. Did you ever
try to get a little dog from a shelter? It's pretty near impossible and being a very small lady I was afraid I
wouldn't be able to handle either the size or the exercise needs of a large dog. If you know a place that only
handles little dogs, please tell me for future reference and I shall be delighted to share the info with my senior
citizen friends. For whatever reason you seem to be ignoring my saying that it's horrid that the children were hurt
and/or killed and nothing could be worse. What I'm finding shameful is that you (who I think might reside in PA)
doesn't research what I'm saying and see for yourself that the world isn't quite what you want it to be. Enough said--

you for buying from a breeder. too many innocent dogs and cats dying in spca's and humane societies because you think
that a purebreed is the only way to go. shame shame shame. and shame on you for saying that the amish aren't as

I wouldn't buy from a pet shop and would only buy from a breeder. Two, I have more sympathy than you could imagine for
the horror of losing these little, innocent kids. Feeling horror about the terrible murders of the children doesn't
change my sadness at the fact that the Amish aren't as innocent as people think they are or my belief that no one should

problem. Lucille Lucille wrote: It's no secret how I feel about guns and, of course, it's horrible that
children have been killed. Maybe it's a bad time to bring this up but the Amish aren't the peaceful people they're
noted to be. It's a very well known and sad fact that the Amish run a large proportion of the puppy mills in the United
States that are known to breed dogs under terrible conditions. They breed the dogs indiscriminately and send sick
puppies to a lot of the pet shops. They're always being shut down by authorities, just to open up again in a short time.
Here's the first link I got when I googled Amish puppy mills
http://www.geocities.com/Petsburgh/Fair/1901/puppymills.html. That was the first one listed of 90,900 articles. Makes
you think twice about how gentle the Amish are, doesn't it? [/quote:0a42c762fa]

sounds lovely - mail delivery by ferry...except of course when the weather is blustery - might not be so enjoyable

does not go by post will be brought over by the local carrier, Jim, who travels on the ferry to Kirkwall every morning

am a signer on his checking account and the little money he had in there was his Social Security deposit and the money
MediCare sends him so he can pay Mayo Clinic (DO NOT get me started on those F*#$(*$ anal orifices). Anyway, I called
and canceled his credit cards by the middle of August. The Visa card person I spoke with said I should just write on
his statement that he had no estate or assets and send it back to them. I did this on about 20 August. Yesterday I get
a letter AND some court papers from these Visa DI*KWADS telling me how sorry they are that my father has passed away and
when am I going to send them the $600+ dollars outstanding on my father's account!! Excuse my profanity but I DO NOT
