bridesmaids' dresses, cake, reception, honeymoon, etc. -- that is held on-air. An engaged couple is selected from all
applicant couples, and the viewers vote on each aspect of the wedding. This year's wedding was a bit strange, since
the couples all had to compete in stupid contests to see who would finally be "the" couple. It's as close to
a "reality" show as I will watch, but I do love weddings. <G> BTW, I've been browsing your photos
again, Cheryl, and I see that you've made several of the same sort of golf-tee pin cushions as I made to take to my
DT's little quilt group. Fun, aren't they? <G> [quote:326a678f80] "Sandy Foster"

One of the many projects going on here is binding fleece blankets with satin ribbon. I'm taking heed to Donna's
warning and forcing the fleece up inside the binding all the way to the fold. Donna says leaving an empty space there
will make the binding weaker. I pin in/out in/out about every 3" or less with long daisyhead pins. The only
trick is to allow no sneaky slipping or stretching. Stitch slowly and poke anything that wants to stretch back in
place before a ripple or pleat forms. Mmmmm, they feel heavenly. As to sharpening diaper pins, what about those
emery-filled strawberry-looking things that come attached to the tomato pin cushions? Have you tried wriggling the
point of the pin in one of those? Might work. You'd want to clean the pins before using by slipping them through a
clean scrap of cloth. Polly "Judie in Penfield NY" <nospam@nospam.org> wrote in message

All moved in, now trying to get settled. New house is 6 blocks from old house. New house is wonderful; old house is
being rehabbed for (hopefully quick) sale. At least for the next few months (probably forever), I'm setting up my
quilting in the formal diningroom. It's a small room, so fabric and excess supplies will be on shelves in the
unfinished basement. It still feels odd and I've not been struck by the muse as yet. I did start handquilting my
greenwork quilt yesterday, so that's a start. Being on the main level for the first time, I'm having to consider the
puppy before putting things on the shelves in the sewing room. Happy (that's the puppy) is more than happy to
investigate and carry interesting things around the house in her mouth. Okay for socks and underwear, not okay for pin
cushions. I've ordered several items at the store to help outfitting the new room--Daylight light, wooden ruler rack
and pressing surface/cutting board to sit beside my sewing machine. So between moving, working more than I want and
Mom's death, it's been an exhausting (in every way) past month. After this week, things should settle down a bit. If
anyone sees an unattached wandering quilting muse, please send him/her my way! joan On Oct 22, 12:02 pm,

When I was ogling the chicks at the feed store the guy tried to convince me chickens were legal in the city. They
aren't. One of the reasons we live in town is so I don't get tied down to a mess of animals. Kitties and dog enough.
I used to tease my sister with the chickens about how expensive those eggs were. We don't much eat eggs anymore anyway.
Dog might have fun chasing them, naw, bad idea. I found a couple of cute pooches at the animal shelter today. I was
smart enough not to bring one home ; ) Taria Sandy Ellison wrote: [quote:999642c72f]Howdy! Somehow the posts got

pets, then you can have a chicken. Check into a breed called Bantam Cochin. They are tiny - like baby Yorkshire Terrier
small - and can live in a nice large parrot cage. I read an article about these birds being kept as pets in NYC. Most
any bantam-size chicken will do for this purpose. Chickens are smarter than you'd think, and can be spoiled rotten. If
you get a female, there'll be no crowing to enrage the neighbors, and you'll get an egg a day from about 6 months of
age. Our first rooster was a "mutt" bantam, all red and beautiful with a green tail. One day he was unable
to use one of his feet, and just stood in the chicken yard holding up one foot. We brought him in the house so he would
not be killed by the others. He had a "nest" of an old comforter on the floor, prolly 15 feet or so from our
recliners where we watch television. One day I was sitting in the recliner watching TV and Peepie decided he was not
going to stay in that nest any more. He stood up on his one leg, jumped and flew across the room into my lap, where he
sat and watched television with me. That bird loved television - must have been the flashing lights and colors. He
would sit in my lap as long as I would stay there, and only occasionally poop. I kept an old towel in the lap for that
purpose. ;) Unfortunately, Peepie started having seizures and we had to take him to the vet to be put to sleep, but
until then, he was a great lap pet. :) L I live in an apartment, so definately NO CHICKENS ALLOWED! ;o)

Promise yourself something "funner" to do upon finishing it. You will get lots of wonderful feedback when you
finish. Especially from people who aren't quilters and are fascinated by the three dimentional parts. Thank you for the
compliment. It's done...the best part. I could go on and on about what I don't like about it...but it's done. Yea. KJ
[/quote:9d9397224d] Okay, you're right. I do have to finish making some little pin cushions for my DT's quilt group
(I'm taking them as little gifts when I visit in September), and I really want to get a little paper-piecing
"kit" made before Houston, but those shouldn't take too long. The hummingbird will be right up there with
those projects. <G> "Finished" would be a relief. ;) -- Sandy in Henderson, near Las Vegas my ISP is
